NightMap ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store and share your personal information when you use the NightMap mobile application and website (collectively, the "Service"), operated by NightMap, based in Namibia.
By using NightMap you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information You Provide
- Account information: Full name, username, email address, phone number, date of birth, profile photo, bio and location.
- Identity verification: Government-issued ID or passport, selfie photo for KYC verification. This is required before selling tickets or receiving payouts.
- Payment information: Bank account details or mobile money number for organiser payouts. Card details for ticket purchases are processed by our payment providers and not stored on our servers.
- Event data: Events you create, tickets you purchase, events you attend and content you post.
- Communications: Messages, support requests and feedback you send us.
1.2 Information Collected Automatically
- Location data: Approximate or precise location to show events near you. You can disable this in your device settings.
- Device information: Device type, operating system, app version and unique device identifiers.
- Usage data: Pages viewed, features used, events tapped, time spent in the app and other interaction data.
- Log data: IP address, browser type, access times and referring URLs.
1.3 Information from Third Parties
- Google OAuth: If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address and profile photo from Google.
- KYC providers: Identity verification results from our KYC partners (Didit or Uqudo).
- Payment providers: Transaction status and payout confirmation from our payment infrastructure partners.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To create and manage your account
- To process ticket purchases and organiser payouts
- To verify your identity as required for selling tickets or receiving payments
- To show you events near your location
- To calculate and display your rank and profile stats
- To send you notifications about events, tickets and app updates
- To provide customer support
- To detect and prevent fraud, fake events and policy violations
- To improve and develop the Service
- To comply with legal obligations
3. How We Store Your Information
Your data is stored securely using Supabase, a cloud database provider. Identity verification documents are stored in a private, access-controlled storage bucket and are not publicly accessible. We implement industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit and at rest.
We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymise your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it by law.
4. Sharing Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information in the following circumstances:
- With other users: Your public profile, rank, attended events and organiser profile are visible to other NightMap users as part of the social features of the app.
- With service providers: We share data with third-party providers who help us operate the Service, including Supabase (database and storage), Mapbox (maps), Resend (email), OneSignal (push notifications), Didit or Uqudo (identity verification) and our payment infrastructure provider. These providers are contractually required to protect your data.
- For legal compliance: We may disclose your information if required by law, court order or government authority.
- For safety: We may share information to investigate fraud, enforce our Terms of Service or protect the rights and safety of users.
- Business transfers: If NightMap is acquired or merged, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
5. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate personal information
- Request deletion of your personal information
- Object to or restrict how we process your information
- Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent
- Export your data in a portable format

6. Cookies and Tracking
Our website uses essential cookies to function. We may use analytics tools to understand how users interact with our site. You can control cookies through your browser settings.
7. Children's Privacy
NightMap is not intended for users under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If we become aware that a user is under 18, we will terminate their account and delete their data. Age verification is required for certain features of the app.
8. Third-Party Links
The Service may contain links to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties and encourage you to review their privacy policies.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy in the app or by email. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
